The city of the consuls, nobles and merchants, became that of the jurists and clerks who surround the bishop.

After the wars of Hundred Years, Religion and Fronde, from the 14th to the 17th century, the city regained its golden age thanks to the nobility of dress, those high magistrates who exercised royal justice at the Presidial. They embellished Sarlat with their new mansions furnished with a tower, a symbol of nobility.

Today the original Lascaux is closed. The cave is closely monitored in order to preserve this site inscribed on the World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
